Summary
Manages and coordinates information technology related resources by performing the following duties, or through delegation to subordinates.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following, other duties may be assigned.
- Network Infrastructure
- Oversees and specifies the designs, specifies, configurations, installations, and maintains local area network equipment including wireless networking equipment, networked printers and scanners, networked peripherals, routers, switches, and cabling.
- Plans and implements additions, deletions and major modifications to the supporting wired and wireless infrastructure organization-wide.
- Documents network configuration.
- Collects and analyzes network logging and reporting.
- Administrative/Strategic
- Develop Information Technology strategy in support of the organization’s mission and core objectives.
- Consults with department directors to develop plans for technology implementation in their areas to meet departmental goals
- Manages the I.T. Department operating budget, approves all technology expenditures, and completes the technology procurement process.
- Negotiates contracts with and coordinates activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors.
- Provides technology-related training to staff.
- Develops and implements technology-based policies and procedures.
- Develops and communicates standards for use, purchase, operations and security of network, personal computers, and software
- Represent the tribe in technology-related projects.
- Maintain membership in technology-related organizations.
- Applies for, administers, and reports on IT-focused grants. Works with planning department and grants department to prepare IT portion of grants.
- Oversees Systems Administration staff
- Configure, install, and maintains Microsoft Hyper-V failover cluster.
- Establishes and maintains Microsoft Active Directory Services including users and computer accounts, group policy, NTFS permissions, shares, and security.
- Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains server hardware.
- Configure, install, and maintain server-based applications.
- Oversees VoIP and Cell staff
- Designs, specifies, configures, installs and maintains the telephone system.
- Documents phones system configuration.
- Manages the cellular phone purchase program. Performs device upgrades, device replacements, and accessory purchases.
- Configure, install, and maintain Mobile Device Management program.
- Oversees End-User Support staff
- Communicates with other departments to report and resolve software, hardware, and operations problems.
- Responds to the needs and questions of network users concerning their access to resources on the network and the operation of various software programs.
- Installs and tests software upgrades.
- Oversees Data Retention/Disaster Recovery staff
- Designs, specifies, configures, installs, and maintains backup, archiving, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Configures, installs, and maintains redundancy solutions including Hyper-V replication and HP MSA replication.
- Documents data retention and disaster recovery configuration.
- Collects and analyzes data retention and discovery recovery logging and reporting.
- Provide support for continuity of business during disasters or emergencies.
- Oversees Multimedia staff
- Main contact for Web design/Web hosting solution. Troubleshoot website connectivity issues. Update content.
- Purchase, configure, and maintain video recording equipment, sound recording equipment, and video conferencing solution.
- Works with Information Security Officer
Supervisory Requirements
Directly supervises employees of the I. T. Department, except for Information Security Officer. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Experience and Eduction
Bachelor’s Degree from accredited University and five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience required. 2-3 years management experience required.
Skills
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, Council and general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability of calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Must have hands-on experience installing and maintaining the following; Server and Client Operating Systems, Exchange Server, domain services, web services, virtualization technologies, storage technologies, database management, data retention procedures, security protocols, networking protocols, productivity suite.
