Summary

The Elder Services Lead is responsible for coordinating and supporting elder services and activities within the Social Services Department. This position assists in planning, implementing, and maintaining programs that promote health, well-being, participation, and quality of life Tribal Elders.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Include the following, Other duties may be assigned.

 

  • Assist with Elders lunch program including Prep/ cook lunch for community when needed
  • Deliver meals and other essential items to Elders as needed.
  • Assisting Tribal Elders with grocery shopping, or other non-medical transportation as needed.
  • Coordinate and assist with elder activities, events, and community engagement opportunities.
  • Conduct outreach to Elders to identify needs and encourage participation in services and programs.
  • Assist tribal Elders in identifying service and support needs and prepare purchase requests or purchase orders for approved items and services on their behalf in accordance with program guidelines and tribal policies.
  • Assist with grant reporting or program data collection as required.
  • Help identify barriers to participation and provide recommendations to improve elder engagement.
  • Coordinate and schedule Elder and Community transportation.
  • Perform intakes and ensure accurate data collection and files.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Requirements

Provides direction, scheduling assistance, and oversight to Elders Services Staff, Volunteers, Temporary staff, WEX participants housed within Elders Services, or assigned program support staff.

Qualifications

  • Highschool Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have a minimum of 1 years’ experience working in Social Services, Healthcare, Elder care, or related field
  • Must be able to keep records and files related to elder services
  • Must be able to lift 75 pounds
  • Must have a food handler’s card
  • Must have valid driver’s License
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work respectfully with Elders, staff and community members
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgement in sensitive situations
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and data entry systems.
  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within a specific timeframe

Experience and Eduction

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Basic mathematical skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, decimals and fractions.

 

REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
