Summary

Works with housing maintenance Supervisor in maintaining Tribal housing units by performing the following duties.

INDIAN PREFERENCE: Indian preference will be exercised in the hiring of this position in accordance with Shoalwater Bay Indian Tribe’s policy 181 within the Tribes Employee Handbook.

Starting wage $25.00

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • General maintenance of varied housing units including single family residences and duplexes.
  • Assist in repairs and upkeep of homes as directed.
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance equipment in clean, safe and operable condition.
  • Assist in maintaining maintenance supply rooms in clean, organized and safe manner.
  • Painting (interior and exterior), drywall, plumbing, electrical, flooring, and carpentry duties including framing and finish carpentry.
  • Maintenance and home rehabilitation tasks
  • Transports small equipment or tools between departments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Requirements

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Experience and Eduction

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 2 to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education/training and experience.

Equivalent experience will be accepted in place of required education.

Skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.  Ability to write simple correspondence. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: 

Basic mathematical skills; addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

REASONING ABILITY: 

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

Valid, current, and unrestricted Washington State Driver’s License.
